Description
Whether you are worried about all the plastic sponges you are sending to the landfill or just want to save some rands, give this all natural scrubbing sponge a try at your sink, or as a brilliant exfoliating sponge for your skin!
It is excellent for washing mugs, plates, bowls, glasses and even baby bottles, and lasts for years. It is just as good when used as a body sponge, increasing blood circulation, exfoliating dead skin cells, increasing soap’s foam, and replacing those flimsy nylon shower poofs that only last for a month.
When you’re done with it after it’s long service life, simply compost it. It is entirely natural, locally grown in South Africa from cucumber-like plants, needing minimal processing after harvest, and thus plastic free as well as vegan. This is a true zero-waste winner, if ever there was one!
In case you didn’t know what a loofah (or loofa or luffa, depending on preference) is… It is the dried fruit of a cucumber-like vining plant in the squash family, usually of the species Luffa acutangula or Luffa aegyptiaca. In some parts of the world (like China), the plants can be grown in a factory-like setup, with artificial lighting and climate control, thereafter chemically treated and bleached to yield a very pale looking loofa sponge. These are the pale ones you usually see in chain stores. However, these loofah sponges were grown in natural conditions outdoors in South Africa, also being of an indigenous African heirloom variety and not chemically bleached. Therefore, they are more even more sustainable, healthy and environmentally friendly than commercially available loofah sponges.
What are you waiting for, you really should give this a go!

Still learning to work with them but I’m happy with it. Thank you.
Perfect, just battled to get some seeds out.
Second one I have bought, and it is for my husband.
Luffa does not really absorb or foams, so end up using lots of body wash, but still love the fact that it is environment friendly
Works nicely
