Simply Bee Beeswax Sunscreen with Fynbos Propolis SPF30

Description

Protect your skin against the harsh South African summer sun with Simply Bee’s natural sunscreen, filled with the goodness of raw organic Honey and Fynbos Propolis. A little bit is a lot, you won’t need to cake it on as with others, so it will last you a good while. It is mineral-based (non-nano zinc), blended with natural sun-deflecting and skin-loving ingredients such as beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil. The beeswax helps it adhere to your skin, without being overly oily.

It is free of synthetic and harmful chemicals associated with skin cancer and hormone disruptors of the very products meant to protect you from cancer (scary, but true – commercial sunscreen can cause as much cancer as it prevents, not to mention all the hormone disruptions, due to all the harmful chemicals that are absorbed by your skin!) Did you know that benzene – a well-known human carcinogen – is commonly found in commercial sunscreen, indirectly through the chemical reactions caused within the constituent compounds? So are various other chemical compounds with reason for concern.

And lest we forget, those same chemicals that are harmful to you, are equally (if not more) harmful to nature around us, where commercial sunscreens in oceans and rivers contributes to the suffering and decline of marine life.

Benzophenones, homosalate and octisalate, octinoxate and octocrylene has been named as some of the worst offenders. As part of commercial manufacturers’ switch away from these ingredients, there is now a commercial move towards nano zinc oxide, which is absorbed by the skin and glands, where it causes endocrine disruptions – so not that much better. Non-nano zinc oxide, on the other hand, has particles that are too big to be absorbed by the skin, and is therefore considered safe for use, while being effective at deflecting the sun’s harsh UVA and UVB rays. And latter – the safe alternative of non-nano zinc oxide – is used in this formulation.

Further to being a mineral-based, natural formulation, Simply Bee is also currently in progress of certifying this sunscreen formulation as safe and effective with a European certification body, to prove the SPF 30 claim. (Unlike many other natural sunscreens, where you are not necessarily certain that the SPF claimed is in actual fact correct – testing and certification is one way to really be certain of the claims.)

All Simply Bee’s bee related ingredients (honey, beeswax, and propolis) are sourced from responsible, sustainable, organic beekeepers and badger-friendly hives. They support and create awareness of bee conservation in the Fynbos biome. Their secret of good skin products lies in the combination of good, natural ingredients with natural processes designed to maximise purity without damaging the ingredients.

Directions for use:

To apply sunscreen, use a dollop on the palm of your hand. Spread it all over the skin that will be exposed to the sun. Rub the sunscreen in until you can’t see the white anymore. Broad spectrum with Natural Zinc Oxide Powder – Non Nano.

Caution:

Excessive sun exposure is dangerous, with long-lasting consequences. All sunscreen needs to be re-applied with long sun exposure. SPF 30 means after applying it, you will take 30 times longer to burn the same amount as you would in 1 minute without applying it. Thus, if you burn within 10 minutes while not wearing sunscreen, it will take 300 minutes before you will start burning with this SPF 30 sunscreen. Each person’s skin is different, and you may need to reapply more or less, depending how soon you burn without any sunscreen.
