Upcycle Reclaimed T-Shirt Doggie Snuffle Rug

Dogs love to dig and search for food – an age-old instinct. By indulging this instinct, you provide your fur-baby with much-needed mental and sensory stimulation, essential to beat boredom and boredom-related problem behaviours, and help space-confined or recuperating animals cope. But how to do it?

Option 1 – hide bones in the garden (doesn’t work for space-confined or recuperating animals, but good exercise for you and for healthy dogs).

Option 2 – get a snuffle rug like this, with plenty of folds and space to hide kibble and treats, then let your doggie run his nose through the endless strands in search of the chow! It’s a great all-rounder option to beat boredom, slow down fast eaters, help confined or recuperating animals cope, and provides excellent physical and mental stimulation for a happy, well-rounded pet.

On top of being a good, high-quality product, it is also sustainable! It’s made in South Africa from corporate branded cotton t-shirts, where the branding process left the shirt unsatisfactory and therefore the shirt would have been sent to landfill (to protect brand integrity, they cannot be sold on the second-hand market). But that is where the Upcycle team jumped in and saved the day… and the planet! They carefully removed the branding, and ripped what was left into strips of yarn, and wove these snuffle rugs by hand. Talk about win-win!

These toys are well-made, they are strong and sturdy and can last for many years, suitable for all shapes and sizes of doggie snouts – a fantastic investment for you, your fur-baby and the planet.

Note the colours are completely random, being made from waste there is little standardisation of colours and each item is unique. Please specify in the order notes if you want a specific colour combination and we’ll try to match it if it’s available, but no guarantees.

Directions for use:

Hide kibble and treats in the folds and strands of the rug, then let your doggie run his nose through the strands in search of the food! Always supervise dogs using snuffle rugs.
