It would be a waste to destroy it, burn it or trash it… so the Upcycle team is offering the quality rejects that are still usable at discounted rates. By buying these items, you agree to buy it “voetstoots” (as is), knowing it has failed the usual commercial quality checks. We visually inspect all these items to ensure it is usable, even if aesthetics may not be pleasing, to some greater or lesser extent.
The item you receive may not look exactly as per the pictures, as each item has failed the quality checks in their own unique way. Think of it as having character, and by accepting this, you are also showing your kind character.

What exactly do we mean? When corporates produce goods en-mass (from sustainable and unsustainable materials alike), there are often some black sheep products that don’t meet the quality standards and are discarded as “factory rejects”. Some of these items are burnt or destroyed to protect brand market value (think pricey fashion brands), or otherwise just sent to landfill. Many of these items are entirely fit for function, but do not look aesthetically pleasing to the producer, and in these cases, it really is a waste to destroy or trash the items.
That where the Upcycle team jumps to interject – some companies donate the rejects to them, and they push it back into the consumer value chain at discounted rates. By buying these items, you agree to buy it “voetstoots” (as is), knowing it has failed the usual commercial quality checks. We make sure to visually inspect all these items to ensure functional performance, even if aesthetics may not be pleasing, to some greater or lesser extent.
