Description

Mini Matters anytime fitted cotton cloth nappies are soft, adjustable and super easy to use. They are a great reusable, breathable option for daytime or nighttime use. It is a simple, durable and easy solution that works! And it is easy for anyone to master, from hubby, to daycare, to nanny… Easy-peasy-done!

The velcro side flaps makes is really easy to fit the nappy. The rise snaps at the bottom helps you adjust the size of the nappy as the baby grows, so you can keep using the nappy for longer. The leg elastics are gentle and wrapped in cotton, to minimize leg burn.

It comes with a cotton booster insert, to improve absorbency, especially for nighttime use or for heavy wetters. The booster inserts can be left out if using this nappy during the day… or more boosters can be added, it’s all up to you. Altogether, the nappy and booster provides a total of 15 soft and thirsty cotton layers.

The following can be purchased separately:

Why use reusable cloth nappies instead of disposable nappies? Because:

  • Cloth made from natural fibres such as cotton, hemp or bamboo are breathable and free from chemicals found in disposables, i.e. healthier for your baby’s skin, leading to fewer rashes, skin irritations and tears
  • It’s reusable, i.e. more cost-effective than disposables in the long run (do the maths how many disposable nappies a baby needs in total, compared to 20 to 30 full-time reusable nappies in total)
  • Because it’s reusable and biodegradable, it is more environmentally friendly (a disposable nappy takes 450 years to break down… do the maths on how many disposable nappies are trashed for a single baby… that’s a lot of single-use trash that literally takes centuries to decompose! A cloth nappy takes 6 months to decompose in a hot compost pile at home)
  • Because Mini Matters cloth nappies are durable, popular and highly prized, it also has great resell value on the second-hand market for mums looking to save.

Directions for use:

On the bum:

Daytime use: Optionally remove one of the inserts and adjust to your baby’s needs. Adjust the rise snaps to suit your babies size, then fold the side flaps over, align the Velcro strips and stick the Velcro. Use a waterproof cover.

Nighttime use: Use all inserts provided for light and medium wetters. Add a booster or trifold insert between the nappy and cover for heavy wetters. Adjust the rise snaps to suit your babies size, then fold the side flaps over, align the Velcro strips and stick the Velcro. Use a breathable waterproof cover.

See the product images for illustration. Fold the nappy, fluffy side facing outwards, then attach Snappi to hold it in place. Cover with waterproof PUL by day, and softshell by night. Optionally, add the provided booster on top of the nappy (recommended for nighttime use and heavy wetting babies). An additional optional booster can be inserted between the nappy and the cover, for very heavy wetters. Optionally, wrap a liner around the nappy for easier cleaning.

Washing:

Nappies can be washed by hand or by machine. No need to soak nappies. Simply shake off excess solids into the toilet, optionally rinse, and leave them in your well-ventilated dry bucket until wash day, up to 4 days later. The most effective washing routine includes:

  1. Rinse cycle
  2. Wash on 30 to 40 degrees (a cold wash works just as well) using a gentle laundry detergent of your choice
  3. Rinse again
  4. You might need to do an additional rinse if there is still some detergent or soap in the water.
  5. Do not use fabric softener, bleach, ammonium or any other harsh chemicals that will damage the fabric layers
  6. Line dry or tumble dry on a low heat
  7. Do not iron

Bum cream:

Cloth nappies are much healthier than disposables and will lead to fewer nappy rashes; however, it can still occur. Avoid using conventional bum creams, barrier creams or petroleum jellies. The artificial and non-biodegradable chemicals affect the absorbency of your nappy and can cause build-up on the fibres, reducing the nappy’s efficiency.  Instead, use coconut oil (naturally anti-bacterial), or a natural, cloth friendly product if you feel the need to use something.
