Microgarden Reusable DIY Sprout Kit – Breathable Bag with Seeds

R119.00

Grow your own culinary sprouts, with this reusable sprouting bag by Microgarden. It is designed to hang – from a hook, in a window, or anywhere else that receives some airflow. Not everyone can grow all their own food, but everyone can grow something… and this is a fantastic idea for those with little space!

All you need is this breathable hessian bag, some seeds (starter seed set included with this kit), and water. The sprouts are ready to eat in 3-5 days (one of the quickest ways to grow food from seed). It makes a healthy, high-protein, nutrient-dense addition to salads, stir fries, pastas, or can be eaten as a snack on its own. You can spout any legume and grain seeds in this bag – lentils, beans, edamame, peas, chickpeas, wheat, spelt, sorghum, etc.

This kit consists of a hessian sprouting bag, 50g lentil seeds and an instruction leaflet.

Description

Grow your own culinary sprouts, with this reusable sprouting bag by Microgarden! This kit consists of a hessian sprouting bag, 50g lentil seeds and an instruction leaflet.

Key benefits:

  • Reusable and zero-waste
  • Home-grown DIY
  • Eliminates plastic packaging waste from store bought sprouts
  • Economical: 50g seeds yields 300g sprouts
  • Nutrient-dense and high protein value from plant-based source
  • Nutrients from sprouts are easier to digest and assimilate than nutrients from whole legumes and grains
  • Quick turn-around time: harvest sprouts in 3-5 days
  • Educational for kids to understand how seeds grow

Directions for use:

Sprouting:

Sterilize the bag in boiling water for 5 minutes, then line dry. Soak seeds overnight in water (8-12 hours). Rinse seeds, then place it into the sprout bag. Dip the bag (with the seeds) in water for 30 seconds, then let the water run off – the water should drain within 5 minutes. Hang the bag on a hook or window, somewhere with good airflow. Rinse the seeds twice a day. Sprouts will be ready to harvest after 3-5 days.

After harvest:

Turn the bag inside out. Remove all left-overs, including seeds, shells, leaves, etc. Hand-wash the bag in hot water, but do not use any soap (because this will remove the natural oils of the hessian, and may leave residue that will impact your next sprouts). From time to time, sterilize the bag by soaking it in boiling water for 5 minutes.
