Description

Ecoelephant’s beeswax sandwich wraps are stunning reusable food wraps, handcrafted in South Africa. They make your kitchen, fridge and picnics look beautiful while taking good care of your food and the environment. These sandwich wraps are made from  the internationally recognized Three Cats Original Shweshwe, which is 100% quality cotton.

The Ecoelephant’s beeswax sandwich wrap is a great eco-friendly alternative to plastic sandwich bags. Made from 100% shweshwe fabric infused in a blend of beeswax, tree resin and jojoba oil, it makes for an easy and fun alternative to plastic wrap. Beeswax has anti-fungal & antibacterial properties, making it suitable for food storage.

These beeswax wraps are washable and reusable and will last up to 12 to 18 months or more if being used on an average of a few times a week. Thereafter, the beeswax coating can be refreshed to extend the wrap’s lifetime, or it can safely be home-composted because it is biodegradable.

Simply wash in cool water with mild Eco-friendly detergent or wipe it with a wet cloth, dry and store until your next use. When you are finished with using your wraps they are biodegradable ensuring they are zero waste and environmentally friendly.

Directions for use:

Place your sandwich/lunch in the centre of the wax wrap, fold in the corners, and wrap the attached waxed string around the wooden coconut button. After use, simply wash in cool water with mild eco-friendly detergent or wipe it with a wet cloth, dry and store until your next use. If the wrap is a bit stiff or shows creaks, warm it up a bit to soften the wax, then rub over the wrap to straighten it. Not suitable for microwaves or hot temperatures. Keep it away from the heat as the main ingredient is bees wax. It will melt if it’s near the oven or on top of the microwave. After about 12 – 18 months of use, when the wrap is no longer sticky or has lost some / most of its coating, you can either refresh the wax coating, or you can home compost it, as it is biodegradable, zero waste and environmentally friendly.
