Being made from completely natural fibres, it won’t shed plasticized shards and micro-plastics over time, as PUL (“faux leather”) belts tend to do, and it will long outlive the average fake leather belt. After all – hemp is one of the strongest natural textiles around! Not only strong and durable, but also one of the most sustainable crops to grow (much more so than cotton, for example, in growing faster, more water efficient, higher yields per hectare per year and needing no pesticides). As compared to leather – hemp is obviously the vegan choice, but to each his own – leather might last a bit longer. Once the hemp belt has outlived its long useful life, it can safely be composted at home, while the buckle can be recycled.
